Users of Salvia rave about it: “It might sound far fetched, but I experience immortality”. The hallucinogenic is increasing in popularity as people realize how widely available it is on the Internet, where sites are set up specifically to send it from its origin in Mexico. An ounce of Salvia leaves will cost around $30.
But not everyone is so enamored with Salvia. Mike Strain, a former legislator from Louisiana help to make the drug illegal in his State, the first to do this in the U.S.. The response has been largely positive, he claims, with a number of dissenters who are chagrined at the loss of business Strain’s move caused.
But parents – those who are the leading catalyst in pushing for substances like Salvia to be made illegal are largely clueless about its existence. The reason? So are the media. There has been relatively little media coverage focused on Salvia because there have been no deaths resulting from its use.
