Sales of music downloads equal to CDs

Do you have a computer? Yes, of course you do. Do you listen music? Most likely. So you’ve probably downloaded music. Whether you did this through one of the many services offering MP3 downloads or through a filesharing network like that provided by Limewire, you can be sure that you are in very good company.

A recent study of 5000 people by Forrester Research Inc has shown that sales for music downloads will equal that of CD purchases as soon as 2011. If that’s not enough, it will pass it a year later. The number of MP3 downloads will grow at a rate of 23% over the coming five years. Impressive figures for an industry still very much in its infancy!

Why do people want to download music rather than buy? Because it will be on there computer within a few minutes. Do people like CDs? Sure. Do they like them enough to go tramping through the snow, rain and sleet to get them? No!
