Working from home with your spouse might seem like a match made in heaven for some; to others it might seem like a absolute disaster. Running a home based business takes self-discipline and organization. Many couples who originally thought that they could work together in a home based business with their spouse find that being together 24/7 can be cumbersome, if not down right antagonistic.
To have a synergistic working relationship and avoid future conflict, couples first need to define their roles in the organization and determine the tasks each will be responsible for. This list of tasks must also include the everyday household chores such as the shopping, meal preparations, taking care of the kids etc. in order to avoid conflict and stress. Having separate work spaces, preferably in separate rooms, that include individual phone lines and computers is also important. But the most important rule for working together in a home business is for each spouse to maintain the consideration and respect of each other’s role and opinions as they would for any co-worker in the traditional workplace.
