As a virgin user of Ares, I had heard great things about the legendary filesharing software. Imagine my disappointment, then, when I discovered that I couldn’t get Ares connecting properly. The last thing I wanted when I finally got the thing download was to have problems with Ares connecting. So frustrating! All I wanted was to download my favorite ABBA tracks and I was foiled at the final hurdle by the very thing that was supposed to facilitate it.

It turns out that the problem is due to an error in the older version of Ares, versions like Ares Galaxy. This has happened, apparently, quite a lot lately, and especially in 2006 and in December 2007; the difficulty with Ares not connecting that I experienced is worse now than it has ever been, so those more in the know than I am tell me.

Those same people saved me a lot of time in looking around for a potential solution simply by pointing me towards newer versions of Ares like Ares Vista and Ares Ultimate. These newer versions don’t have the problem of Ares not connecting.

I downloaded one of the newer versions and I’ve got to say I’m impressed all around. Not only do they not have the problems of Ares not connecting, but these are generally better pieces of software. I’m kind of glad I didn’t get stuck into Ares Galaxy!
